TRANSFORMERS shatters records

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: people love robots.

Variety reports that Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen established a new records for a Wednesday opening.  The midnight screenings totaled $16 million, which is also the second highest ever.  The all-time record was set The Dark Knight at $18 million, on a Friday opening.

The Robots In Disguise also exacted revenge on the all-time one-day total for a Wednesday with a tally of $60.6 million, far eclipsing the previous mark of $44.2 million set by Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.

It doesn’t end there.  A new Imax mark was set by Transformers at $1 million, on just 169 screens.

The film is well on pace to beat Spiderman 2‘s five-day total of $152.4 million.

That’s just prime.
